Epidemiologists: the pandemic strain of influenza has not gone anywhere
Robert Koch Institute has shown the statistics of flu virus for today. According to the statistics for Germany, this winter more harmless viruses dominate, but this does not mean that we can relax, "Medik Forum" notes.
So, since the beginning of the epidemic season (the 40th calendar week of last year), there is a clear predominance of influenza viruses B. This is 72% of all identified cases. The viruses A (H1N1) pdm09 (23%) and viruses A (H3N2) (6%) are lagging far behind. The prevalence of influenza B is partly explained by the fact that not all of the drugs used during vaccination took into account the serotype B. As a result, even vaccinated people become ill.
However the viruses A (H1N1) pdm09 is a cause of special concern. First they appeared in 2009, by triggering a pandemic. Since then, these viruses appear every season. Physicians remind that the viruses A (H1N1) pdm09 cause serious complications and even death.
