Existing medicines can defeat dangerous infections
Scientists say that for the treatment of viral and bacterial infections, existing medicines should be used alone or in combination with other medicines. This will be more effective than the development of new treatments, Deccan Chronicle reports.
According to the scientists, the creation of new preparations and vaccines usually takes a long time and other resources. In addition, pathogens develop gradually a resistance to the drugs as a result some new designed remedies become useless. Therefore, it makes sense to fight these pathogens by using already existing medications.
By the way, American doctors of Houston clinics have recently revealed a new strain of super bacteria which is resistant to almost all antibiotics. This pathogen was found in every third patient. According to James Musser from the Methodist Hospital of Houston, this discovery was a big and unpleasant surprise.
