GOOGLE is testing artificial intelligence to diagnose skin diseases

In the US, dermatologists are very busy, so often patients are forced to seek help from general practitioners. They cannot make an accurate diagnosis. This issue is reported by Google.

This situation contributed to the fact that scientists from Google have developed a special system for identifying skin problems that can determine the most common dermatological diseases.

The development based on artificial intelligence was called "In-depth study system for the differential diagnosis of skin diseases". As a result of tests when processing identical patient information (images and metadata), AI can detect 26 skin conditions (as much as a certified American dermatologist determines).

The authors of the study emphasized that 1.9 billion people worldwide suffer from skin diseases. Due to the heavy workload of dermatologists in the United States, many cases are diagnosed by a general practitioner with an accuracy of 24% to 70%. A dermatologist diagnoses with an accuracy of 77-96%, but AI diagnoses with an accuracy of 80-92%.
