Scientists have found a gene that causes sudden death in young people
According to Zee News, an international team of experts has found that CDH2 gene mutation causes arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. This rare hereditary heart disease is the main cause of sudden death in seemingly healthy young people.
The scientists have carried out a genetic sequencing and analyzed the data. They have found that in some cases, the cause of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy of the right ventricle was a mutation of CDH2 gene. The experts hope that their findings will promote the timely detection of this disease.
By the way, another study conducted at Northwestern University has shown that a lot of men risk to die from sudden cardiac arrest. The sudden cardiac death (SCD) threatens nearly every ninth man and every thirtieth woman, approximately. Mainly, these are people under 70 years old.
