Scientists have revealed a simple secret of a healthy heart
Scientists from the University of Western Australia are convinced that a daily cup of tea or blueberries may reduce the risks of developing cardiovascular diseases.
Scientists have analyzed data of 53,000 volunteers. All volunteers responded to questionnaire survey about their eating habits and answered how often and what foods they eat. The study lasted 23 years. At the end of the study, the experts assessed the heart conditions in all volunteers.
It turned out that many volunteers experienced heart disorders. But, those who took about 500 mg of flavonoids per day had a reduced risk of developing coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral artery disease. Flavonoids have anti-inflammatory properties and fight free radicals.
In addition, the Australian experts emphasized that the more bad habits you have, the more flavonoids you need.
However, this thesis does not claim to be unique. Previous studies have already found a link between flavonoids and the reduced risk of heart disease. But this finding is one of the largest to date. This adds more convincing evidence of the fact that flavonoids can truly protect the heart.
